A Powerball ticket matching all six numbers for a $328.5 million jackpot was sold at Fred Meyer on SW Walker Road in Beaverton, Oregon. The store will receive a $100,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket. In response to this event, Fred Meyer is donating $50,000 to a local food bank.

The prize was claimed on Wednesday. Due to the multi-state nature of the Powerball game, there will be some time before the winner is officially announced and receives their prize money. This win follows another significant victory in April when a Portland man and his associates won $1.3 billion.

Mike Wells, Director of the Oregon Lottery, expressed his enthusiasm: “I’m thrilled to be celebrating another large Powerball jackpot win in Oregon.” He highlighted the broader benefits such wins bring to state and local communities.

Fred Meyer's donation aligns with its Zero Hunger | Zero Waste strategy aimed at combating hunger and waste. Andrea Williams, President of the Oregon Food Bank, emphasized the importance of Fred Meyer's support: “Their support helps provide nourishing food that feels like home to our communities.”

Fred Meyer President Todd Kammeyer remarked on the significance of addressing hunger: “Hunger and food insecurity are critical issues across the state.”

Fred Meyer has previously sold large lottery prizes, including a $1 million Powerball ticket in November 2023 and a $7.9 million Megabucks ticket in November 2022.

Since starting operations on April 25, 1985, the Oregon Lottery has generated nearly $16.5 billion for various state programs.
