Warner Pacific University Men's Soccer Head Coach Troy Ready announced this morning, on June 14th, the signing of transfer senior midfielder Alain Murhula to the 2022 Men's Soccer recruiting class.
"Alain has the special capability to change a game," Coach Ready said about the talented addition of Murhula to his squad.
"He is creative and explosive as an attacker and is hungry to keep adding elements to his game. We are grateful to welcome him to Warner Pacific for his senior season!" Ready concluded.
Murhula brings quite the impressive resume with him to Warner Pacific, starting with his lengthy accomplishments at Timberline High School in his hometown of Boise, Idaho. As a member of the Boys' Varsity Soccer team, Murhula earned First Team All-Region honors, became the Timberline HS Athlete of the Year, and was the state of Idaho Player of the Year for Boys' Soccer.
All of these awards led to Murhula earning the highly esteemed honor of Idaho Gatorade Player of the Year, which is given to one Boys' Soccer player statewide for demonstrating high academic achievement, and exemplary character that includes volunteerism, sportsmanship, and community leadership.
Murhula was selected as the Gatorade Player of the Year in 2016 after leading the Wolves to a 19-1 overall record in route to a Class 5A State Championship. He scored 22 goals and assisted six times, 12 of said goals came in postseason contests. Additionally, he worked the entirety of the 2015 fall season to help support his family after they moved from the Congo, and still found time to volunteer locally on multiple community service activities through his church.
From Timberline, Murhula committed to Whatcom Community College in Bellingham, Washington, where he immediately became an impact player for the Orcas. Murhula earned Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) All-Conference honors in the fall of 2017, and earned Team MVP status due to his leadership and his key offensive performances.
In his final season with Whatcom, the Orcas finished with a 18-1-3 overall record, their only loss coming in the NWAC Playoff Championship game to Highline Community College by a final score of 0-1.
Murhula continued his collegiate career at the University of Providence in Great Falls, Montana (a fellow Cascade Collegiate Conference member on an associated basis), where he once again jumped into a brand new team dynamic and found success both on and off the field. He finished the 2019 season with five goals and seven assists, playing 962 minutes and starting in 12 of the 15 games he appeared in for the Argos.
Murhula will be completing his degree in Business while at Warner Pacific, and will look to make an immediate impact on the pitch this upcoming 2022 fall season with the Knights.
