Traylor Leads Knights With 20 in Win Over Oregon Tech

Darius Traylor led the way in a strong team performance for the Knights in their 88-78 win over Oregon Tech on Saturday.

Warner Pacific (14-7, 11-5) had five players with double digit points, including Darius Traylor, who led the Knights with a personal season high of 20.

Oregon Tech (10-12, 7-9) jumped out to an early lead in the first half. The Owls went up by seven points early on as the Knights were held scoreless for the first few minutes of the game. The Knights were able to regroup coming out of a timeout and went on an 11-4 run to tie up the game. After trading leads, the Knights were able to get on a roll to end the first half, as buckets by Darius Traylor helped to give Warner a nine point lead going into halftime.

Coming out of the break, Oregon Tech was able to widdle down Warner's lead to just one point. The Knights responded by going on an 11-2 run to give themselves some breathing room. The Knights stayed out in front for the rest of the game thanks in part to a strong second half from Maxwell Moses. The 6'7 junior scored 10 of his 18 points in the second half and helped the Knights secure the 88-78 win.

The Knights were led offensively by Darius Traylor, who scored a personal season high of 20 points. The California native was nearly perfect, going 8-9 from the field, including 4-4 from long range.

According to Traylor, he had a feeling early on that he may have a big game. "The funny thing is I was telling Isaac and Thomas at shootaround that I was feeling it" Traylor said. "After the first three went down I knew it was going to be a good night."

Traylor wasn't the only Knight getting it done on offense, as Maxwell Moses gave Warner a big boost off of the bench, scoring 18 points on 7-10 shooting.

Other strong performances for the Knights include Thomas Miles who scored 16 points and grabbed six rebounds. Caleb Tyree-Morgan also scored 12 points and had five rebounds. Finally, Dakota Reber recorded another double double, scoring 12 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

The win puts the Knights at 14-7 on the season. Men's basketball is back in action on Feb. 3 when they host the no. 1-ranked College of Idaho.
