Three Men Get Recognized for Athletic Academic Achievement

Senior, Isaac Etter and Juniors Josiah Castillo, and Mark Wishom are Warner recipiants of the Daktronics NAIA Mens Basketball Scholar-Athletes Award. This a very special award given to players who are able to not only balance but excel in the student-athlete balance which for anyone who has tried it knows that it is not an easy road. You have to want it and that is what these men have done.

The criteria that must be met to garnish  this specific award is to have a minimum 3.5 grade point average, be eligible for the sport they're playing, and to have attended their institution for a minimum of one full year. Head Coach Jamayne Potts knows how difficult it is to be a student athlete from first hand experience playing at his alma-mater, Lake Forest College. "I'm extremely proud of these three young men for setting the tone for our program academically as veterans. It is a big reason why our team GPA has improved every year because of guys like Isaac, Mark, and Josiah, who all help set the example for others. Our team finished with a team GPA of 3.55 in the first semester so it's great to see our guys having success in the classroom and on the court."

The Knights had a solid season going 18-10 overall and 15-7 in conference play. To have that record and to maintain excellence in the classroom is a big deal. Congratulations to Isaac, Josiah, and Mark for their outstanding commitment to excellence on the court as well as off. We as an institution are proud to have you guys representing our school.
