Residents of Burns, Oregon, should note that the local DMV office will temporarily close on March 21 for facility work. The office is scheduled to reopen on March 24, maintaining its regular hours. The hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday. The office will be closed daily from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m.
As the May 7 federal REAL ID deadline nears, DMV offices are experiencing increased demand, leading to longer lines and wait times. Customers at busier locations can ask if they can provide their cell number for text notifications when their turn approaches.
REAL ID is necessary for those aged 18 and older who plan to travel by plane within the U.S. after May 7 without a valid passport. Those not planning to fly soon can delay obtaining a REAL ID until it's time to renew their credential or use a passport instead.
For those who do not require a REAL ID immediately, services may be completed online at DMV2U.Oregon.gov or at one of the ten self-service kiosks available across the state.
