The Old Youngs Bay Bridge will undergo maintenance from April 14 to April 18, the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) announced. During this period, the bridge will close daily for repairs to the steel grate surface and adjacent road sections. The construction work will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, with the bridge reopening to traffic at night. Drivers should expect delays and are urged to exercise caution throughout the area.

ODOT encourages residents to visit its website for additional road construction information. An interactive map is available for viewing ongoing and upcoming projects in the community.

"Pay attention in work zones, slow down and move over – imagine this is where you work!" a statement emphasized, reminding drivers of the importance of road safety and adherence to construction signs, especially as fines in Oregon work zones double irrespective of the presence of workers and signs.

The department asks the public to share this information with others. It also provides translation and interpretation services for those needing them, including a hotline for Spanish-speaking residents.

For detailed road conditions and traffic updates, ODOT advises consulting TripCheck.com or calling 5-1-1.

The announcement also served as a reminder about upcoming changes concerning federal ID requirements. Starting May 7, a federally accepted ID will be needed for air travel.
