Oregon Governor Tina Kotek has appointed Kirk Maag to the Oregon State Board of Agriculture. Maag, a partner at Stoel Rives law firm specializing in environmental and natural resources, will begin his role immediately. His term will last four years, with an option for renewal.
Maag expressed his enthusiasm for the appointment: “It is an honor to be appointed to serve on the Board of Agriculture. The Board’s vision of cultivating ‘a resilient tomorrow for generations to come’ resonates with me, and is a guiding principle I have applied to both my legal career and civic engagement,” he said. “I am grateful for the opportunity to continue serving our state’s agricultural community and creating a positive impact for our future. I am excited to serve alongside many distinguished industry peers.”
Maag's background includes deep connections to Oregon's agriculture sector, having grown up working on his family's farm in eastern Oregon. Recently, he was named the 2024 Alumni Fellow by the Oregon State University Alumni Association for his dedication to fostering community among future agribusiness leaders. Additionally, OSU's College of Agricultural Sciences honored him as its 2024 Alumni Luminary.
The Governor appoints all members of the 10-member Board of Agriculture, which advises the Oregon Department of Agriculture on policy matters and advocates for agricultural interests across the state.
