The Oregon Driver and Motor Vehicle Services (DMV) has announced the resumption of sending records to the Oregon Secretary of State for automatic voter registration. This follows a temporary pause initiated by Governor Kotek in 2024 due to clerical errors discovered by DMV staff.

In response to these issues, several measures have been implemented. The DMV is hiring a Voter Registration Integrity Analyst and instituting a third review at the end of each day where a manager will verify all files for accuracy before they are sent to the Elections Division for automatic voter registration. Additionally, changes have been made to the user interface to reduce the likelihood of staff selecting incorrect documents. This includes separating foreign documents from U.S. documents that prove citizenship onto different screens.
