Our crews have been making progress on upgrading U.S. 101 in downtown Garibaldi. The ongoing efforts aim to enhance safety and accessibility across various modes of transportation, including driving, riding, and walking.

Paving is expected to begin in the downtown area as early as next week, contingent upon favorable weather conditions. Preparations are in place to commence once weather permits. During the paving phase, the community can expect several adjustments, including:

- Lane closures with 24-hour flagging and pilot cars facilitating traffic flow through the work zone.

- Crews operating Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

- Closure of side streets in the project area, with local traffic required to take alternative routes.

- Sidewalk closures with detours for pedestrians when necessary.

- Anticipated noise and delays.

- Businesses within the project area remaining open.

The project's anticipated completion is slated for Fall 2025.

For more detailed information about the U.S. 101 Urban Upgrades project, the public is encouraged to visit the project's webpage. This portal provides insights into ongoing constructions in the community, including an interactive map detailing current road works.

Drivers are advised to exercise caution in work zones and adhere to safety protocols, as traffic fines are doubled in all Oregon work zones regardless of the presence of workers or signage.

Additionally, translation and interpretation services are available for those needing accommodations under ADA Title II or Civil Rights Title VI. For assistance, individuals are encouraged to call TTY (800) 735-2900 or use the statewide Oregon Relay Service by dialing 7-1-1. Information about the project is also accessible in Spanish upon request.

The community is invited to share this information to promote awareness and updates about ongoing projects. Those interested in receiving further updates can sign up for email alerts.

For ongoing road condition checks and traffic alerts, residents can visit TripCheck.com or dial 5-1-1.

An important reminder for air travelers: starting May 7, 2025, a federally accepted ID will be required for flying. Residents are urged to ensure their readiness for REAL ID requirements.
